Longmeadow resident Kim Schmidt, a junior at Westfield State University, captured the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association one- and three-meter diving championships for the third consecutive year. The competition took place at Bentley University in Waltham on Feb. 12 and 13.

Schmidt finished first out of 11 divers in the one-meter competition with 409.3 points. Bentley University's Shelly D'Aleo came in a distant second with 353.9 points.

Schmidt also dominated the three-meter board, racking up an even 416 points to easily outdistance runner-up Abby Mathews of Bentley University, who earned 351.2 points.

Schmidt graduated from Longmeadow High School in 2008 and was the Western Mass. Diving Champion for the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 school years.
