Elms women's hoops sets win record |

CHICOPEE Senior guard Carolyn Talmadge of Wilbraham netted 12 points to give the Blazers three players in double figures in a 65-50 victory over Wheelock College on Feb. 18. With the win, the Blazers set a program record for single season wins with 17.
Talmadge then scored 13 points and dished six assists for Elms College in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship tournament quarterfinal game against Bay Path College.
Locals make MASCAC women's indoor track honor roll
BUZZARDS BAY Ludlow's Carrie Robitaille and Springfield's Kat Marrone were both named to the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) weekly honor roll for indoor track.
Robitaille, a senior at Bridgewater State University, placed 10th in the Division III New England pentathlon (2,890 points) and also ran a leg of the school record setting 4-by-200 meter relay (1:50.37) for the Bears at the Division III New England Championships.
Marrone, a senior at Fitchburg State University, placed 13th in the 800 meters (2:26.58) and ran a leg of the ECAC qualifying 4-by-800 meter relay (10:04.98) for the Falcons at the same meet.
Skiffington shines in loss
CHICOPEE East Longmeadow's Kayla Skiffington was sensational in No. 7 Bay Path College's 62-51 loss to No. 2 Elms College in a Feb. 21 NECC Championship tournament quarterfinal, hitting on 11 of 18 from the field en route to a team-high 23 points and added a team-best of 16 rebounds.
Felix records double-double
WORCESTER The Westfield State University women's basketball team's Gabby Felix of Springfield scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, but the Owls suffered a 61-52 loss to Worcester State in the quarterfinals of the MASCAC women's basketball postseason tournament.
Elms swimming earns Scholar All-America award
CHICOPEE The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced the Scholar All-America Team Awards for the 2011 fall semester. The Team Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Elms' men's team earned a 3.07 GPA, while the women's squad registered a 3.35 GPA.
