Golden Bears football coach, players honored |

SPRINGFIELD -- Keith Emery of Western New England College (WNEC) was named the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Boyd Division Coach-of-the-Year after leading the Golden Bears to an 8-2 record for the program's best mark in 30 years of NCAA Division III competition.
WNEC also posted a 6-1 record that tied Endicott for first place in the division and compiled a school-record seven-game winning streak during the season.
Junior quarterback Bryce Brown was voted the Boyd Offensive Player-of-the-Year and named to the All-Division first team. A first-year player, Brown finished fifth in the 16-team NEFC in total offense 156.2 average and fourth in pass efficiency 116.7 rating. He completed 58.9 percent of his passes for 975 yards and five touchdowns, while rushing for 587 yards and a team high eight touchdowns that ranked eighth in the league.
Also gaining All-Boyd first team honors were junior running back JJ Jachym, junior offensive tackle Joe Van Huysen, sophomore defensive end James George and sophomore free safety Phil Tsopanides.
The Golden Bears had eight players selected to the All-Boyd second team. The five seniors on the squad were: linebackers Justin Bailey and Dylan Chandler; tight end Dan Crane; placekicker/punter Jake Field and defensive back Pat Lesko.
Also making the honor squad were junior wide receiver Kenny Muhlack, junior offensive guard Richard Poquette and freshman defensive tackle Kevin Soule.
