Holyoke Community College soccer begins its season on Aug. 13

HOLYOKE — The 2012 Holyoke Community College (HCC) soccer season will begin on Aug. 13 with pre-season practices for both the men's and women's teams.

Practices will take place on campus at O'Connell Field.

The women's season kicks off the weekend of Aug. 25 and 26 with the 2012 Coliseum Kickoff Classic at Tompkins Cortland Community College inn Dryden, N.Y.

Their first home game will take place at O'Connell Field on Aug. 31 at 3 p.m. against Nassau Community College.

The Lady Cougars' first regional match is slated for Sept. 1 at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston at the beginning of a four-gam road swing.

Regional rivalry games against Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) will take place on Sept. 19 at O'Connell Field and Oct. 17 at STCC to wrap up the regular season.

The NCAA regional tournament begins with the semifinals on Oct. 27.

The men's schedule begins on the road against Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, N.Y. on Sept. 2 after a pair of scrimages against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Aug. 24 and the Springfield College junior varsity squad on Aug. 28.

The Cougars' first home game and regional matchup is on Sept. 8 against Roxbury Community College on O'Connell Field at 1 p.m.

HCC takes on STCC twice, the first meeting taking place in Springfield on Sept. 19 and the second on Oct. 17 at O'Connell Field to finish off the regular season schedule.

The Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference tournament begins on Oct. 20, followed by the regional semifinals on Oct. 27.
