Homeschool Skating at Smead Arena

Reminder Publications submitted photo

For the past six years, Homeschool Skating at Smead Arena on Roosevelt Boulevard in Springfield has helped to fill physical education requirements for those homeschooled throughout the Valley.

"It is a good break from academic achievements and studies and gets the kids to socialize with each other," Kathy Piteo, Homeschool Skating director and coach, said.

Currently 26 skaters participate in the program conducted each Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. which is governed by the Ice Skating Institue's International program.
