LONGMEADOW The Longmeadow Lancers 10-12 “A” Division Tri-Town team won the 2011 Pee Wee Reese Massachusetts State Tournament on July 17.
After finishing their regular season and league playoffs at 18-3, they qualified for the State Tournament, which took place July 14 to 17.
The Lancers won five straight games and went undefeated in tournament play to capture the state title.
This was the first time Longmeadow has won the Pee Wee Reese State Tournament and only the second time a Tri-Town team has taken the top slot.
Longmeadow qualified for the Pee Wee Reese Northeast Regional Tournament, which took place July 21 to 24 in Springfield.
