Local skaters medal at Enfield competitionSkaters from throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York converged on the Enfield Twin Rinks in Enfield, Conn., on a bright, hot and sunny day last month for the second annual Enfield Twin Rinks Basics and Beyond Classics figure skating competition sponsored by the Little Sun Valley Skating Club, based in Springfield.
Local Little Sun Valley members had a great showing. Among those winning medals were:
Chicopee residents: Meg Fournier, preliminary compulsory moves gold, pre-preliminary program bronze, pre-preliminary/preliminary interpretive program silver and Rebecca Mahoney, freestyle 1 compulsory moves silver.
Holyoke resident: Brianna Brenna, freestyle 2 program gold and freestyle 2 compulsory moves silver.
Wilbraham residents: Jenna Nebel, basic 2 compulsory moves gold; Emily Ramos, no test program silver; and Sarah Lachenmeyer, basic 4 compulsory moves bronze.
Hampden resident: Allison Pollard, basic 2 compulsory moves silver.
Longmeadow residents: Katie Fydenkevez, freestyle 2 compulsory moves silver; freestyle 2 program silver; Deepika Babu, basic 4 compulsory moves bronze; Caroline Bialis, basic 4 compulsory moves gold; Katherine McCarthy, basic 4 compulsory moves bronze; Lauren Stone, basic 7 compulsory moves gold; and Alina Libowitz, basic 8 compulsory moves silver.
Springfield residents: Sally Alrutz, basic 8 compulsory moves gold; basic 8 program gold; Caitlin Blanchette, basic 2 compulsory moves bronze; Shannon Caldwell, beginner compulsory moves gold, no test program gold, beginner interpretive gold; Kella Martinez, basic 3 compulsory moves silver; Shelby Morrissette, freestyle 2 compulsory moves gold; freestyle 2 program bronze; Mariah Suarez, basic 6 compulsory moves silver; Mary Speight, basic 4 compulsory moves gold; and Elizabeth Zorzi, basic 8 compulsory moves silver.
