Over the May 1 weekend, the South End Community Center (SECC) All-Stars 12U basketball team won the silver medal at the Massachusetts AAU Division I State Championships at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. Twenty-two teams ages 12 and under from all over Massachusetts competed in the three-day tournament. SECC defeated the Greater Boston Lions, MYCW, BABC, and the Boston Warriors to advance to the championship game. SECC finished in second place, losing 51-48 in a thriller to the defending champion MABC Bengals. With this accomplishment, SECC qualified to compete this summer at the AAU Division I & II National Championships.
