Soccer awards hosted in Ludlow

Since its inception in 1987 the Lusitano Alumni and Fans (LAF) organization has sponsored a number of programs and activities related to adult and high school soccer. In keeping with this goal of promoting the sport of soccer, LAF will host the 19th annual Western Mass All Star High School Soccer Awards Night Jan. 27, 6 p.m., at Gremino Lusitano Club on Winsor Street in Ludlow (across from Lusitano Stadium, home of the Western Mass Pioneers).

At this banquet LAF will present recognition and awards to all players selected to the Sunday Republican All Western Mass Boys and Girls soccer teams from Division 1, 2 and 3. Special awards will also be presented to the Most Valuable Players in their respective divisions as selected by the coaches of the league by ballot.

In addition to the awards ceremony the program will also include a buffet and the presence of many collegiate coaches who attend to meet prospective players. This year's guest speaker will be coach Ronald Dias of the Western New England College Women's soccer team. Tickets are available by calling 583-6425.
