Tim Larocca returns as WNEC assistant coach

SPRINGFIELD The Western New England College (WNEC) men's soccer team will have a familiar face on the sidelines this fall.

Former Golden Bears standout Tim Larocca of East Longmeadow returns home after being named an assistant coach following two seasons in a similar position at Utica College in New York.

One of the top players in Western New England College history, Larocca earned his bachelor's degree in marketing in 2007.

Larocca was a four-year starter at midfield, three-time All-New England selection, twice a team captain, and the program's first National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as a senior.

He led the Golden Bears to NCAA Sweet 16 appearances in both 2005 and 2006 and a cumulative 60-23-7 record during his career.

At Utica, he helped the Pioneers to their winningest season ever (10-9) and an ECAC Tournament berth in 2007.

Larocca played one season of professional soccer for the Western Massachusetts Pioneers in 2008.

He holds the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and the USSF "B" coaching license, and currently serves as the Director of Coaching for Soccer Plus FC in Farmington, Conn.
