Wilbraham & Monson Academy honors star athletes at winter sports banquet

WILBRAHAM On March 2 Wilbraham & Monson Academy (WMA) honored those varsity athletes who participated in the successful winter season at the Winter Athletic Banquet and Awards Ceremony. Athletic Director Skip Jarocki emceed the gathering.
Most Valuable Player Awards were given to (left to right) Mia Konstantakos, Bethany Lyon, Derrick Barnagian, Carly Cronin, Nathan Lee and Yeon-Joo Donna Lee. (Missing from photo: Stephanie Robbins, Naruhiko Sugiura, Philip Spottswood and Eric Dortch.)

Coaches Awards were presented to the following: Chloe Snyder of Northampton for girls' basketball; Patrick Schmidt of Wilbraham for riflery; Adam Ginsberg of Arlington, Va., for the ski team; Kelsey Tomlinson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Kevin Lambert of Granby for the swim team; Joseph Thibault of Southwick for wrestling; Qiulin Cindy Li of Yunan, China, and Branden Piquette of Belchertown for winter track; Ajdrej Pajovic of Podgorica, Montenegro, for boys' basketball.

Most Valuable Athlete presentations were made to the following: Carly Cronin of Feeding Hills for girls' basketball; Yeon-Joo Donna Lee of Gyeonggi-do, Korea, for riflery; Stephanie Robbins of Wilbraham for the ski team; Mia Konstatakos of Hampden and Nathan Lee of Monson, both repeat winners for the swim team; Derrick Barnagian of Hampden for wrestling; Bethany Lyon of Monson and Naruhiko Sugiura of Vienna, Austria, for winter track; Eric Dortch of Evanston, Ill., and Philip Spottswood of Key West, Fla., for boys' basketball.
