Aug. 20, 2012
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Western New England University (WNE) men's soccer team is slotted 23rd in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III preseason poll, presented by Continental Tire, which was released on Aug. 13.

WNE is the only Commonwealth Coast Conference member represented in the NSCAA preseason Top-25. WNE opens the season Sept. 1 and 2 at home with the WNE Soccer Shootout, featuring two 2011-NCAA tournament teams among six that the Golden Bears will play this year.

The Golden Bears are scheduled to return 17 players from last season's squad that went 19-4-1 overall, ranked 24th in the final national rankings, swept the Commonwealth Coast regular-season and tournaments titles, and earned their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance.

Defending national champion Ohio Wesleyan finished 2011 with a 23-2-0 overall and is No. 1 to start 2012.

The first rankings of the 2012 regular season will be released Sept. 4.

The NSCAA/Continental Tire college rankings are an indicator of week-to-week status of qualified programs.
