Longmeadow's Lorenzo Mafuz participated in the New England Youth Wrestling Championships in Nashua, N.H., for the Springfield 5A wrestling team after placing second in the 104-pound weight class in the Massachusetts Youth Wrestling Association (MYWA) State Championship Tournament.

Mafuz won the MYWA sectional meet at 104 to advance to the state tournament, where he beat two opponents — one by a 17-14 decision and the other by pin in 31 seconds — to advance to the finals, where he lost to Masco's Joey Perkins.
