Y offers winter basketball

WESTFIELD The YMCA of Greater Westfield will conduct three leagues of winter basketball this year.

Players from the Gateway, Southwick and Westfield areas (as well as surrounding towns) are eligible.

These successful leagues have been popular for many years and will add new competitive features this year.

The three leagues are based on constant fun, quality instruction, progressive competition, exper-ienced supervision and value packed experiences.

The leagues are set up to play on Saturdays as follows: ages seven to nine and 10 to 12, Nov. 13 to Feb. 26, 2011 late morning to early afternoon; ages five to six, Dec. 4 to Feb. 5, 2011 mid-morning.

The older two age groups also have three occasional Tuesday practices in the early evening during the season.

Registration is being accepted daily until one week after the start of each league at the YMCA, 67 Court St.

Call George Hart, youth sports director at the YMCA at 568-8631 for more details or request a flyer/registration form by e-mailing ghart@westfieldymca.org.
