WE ARE HOMETOWN NEWS.

CHICOPEE — With Easter coming up, families will have the chance to hunt for eggs, meet the easter bunny, pet farm animals and more at McKinstry Farms on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Easter egg hunts will start at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. with eggs hidden throughout the farm.

There will be hay wagon trips for a scenic ride around the farm to the hunt, a photo opportunity with the Easter bunny and the opportunity to plant marigold seeds together to celebrate the arrival of spring and compete in a coloring contest.

Families should bring a bag or basket to collect the eggs.

Momo’s Snack Shack will also be open to buy breakfast, lunch or refreshments.

“Our Easter Eggstravaganza is packed with even more surprises and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Don’t miss out on this egg-ceptional event,” Thomas said.

Pre-sale tickets are $8 for ages two and up. Under two are free and that includes one free adult.

You can order online at www.buytickets.at/mckinstryfarm/1180735.

Tickets at the door are $10. Parents do not have to purchase a ticket to supervise or ride the hay wagon with their children, but if you want to partake in the activities, you will need to purchase a ticket.

This event is rain or shine, but most activities will be in the greenhouse.
This is the first year McKinstry Farms has hosted an Easter event and Michaela Thomas said the farm is looking to host more community events.

She added, “This is the first year we did an Easter event. Last December we did a Christmas event. We are trying to get into more agrotourism so with this event, it’s kind of going to be the start of events. In June we are going to have a strawberry festival and some events over the summer and in the fall.”

With a city setting like Chicopee, Thomas talked about how unique it is for residents to be able to visit a farm.

“Its an opportunity. You can go to other Easter extravaganzas but to be on a real working farm and be able to see the fields and there are not many farms left in cities that you can go on and have an experience, so I think it is a unique Easter extravaganza,” Thomas said.

Tickets are still available and Thomas added that she is “looking forward to the customers and kids having a good time and enjoying the event.”
