EASTHAMPTON – Registration has begun for the AARP Tax Assistance Program that is hosted by the Council on Aging (COA).

This year’s program has significant changes due to the pandemic.

The program will not be conducted inside the Easthampton Senior Center; instead, appointments will take place over the phone.

According to the COA newsletter, there will be a pick-up location for the instructions and intake forms inside a file cabinet placed at the bottom of their front entrance staircase located at 19 Union St. Individuals participating in this program are expected to complete their intake form and secure all necessary documents before their scheduled appointment.

After everything is completed, the individual is expected to return their documents and the AARP volunteers will collect them from participants.

Lead AARP volunteer Chuck Johnson told Reminder Publishing the program is not just for elders who live in the Easthampton area; those from other communities are welcome.

To reserve a slot, call 527-6151. Appointments will start on Feb. 8 and run Monday through Thursday afternoons.
