GRANBY – On the evening of Feb. 8, the Granby Selectboard had a joint meeting with the School Committee to fill an open position, and with  the Board of Health to discuss resident vaccination plans.

The Selectboard made a motion to appoint Jill Pelletier to the School Committee to fill the empty position at this time. The board congratulated Pelletier and look forward to working with her.

“I’m interested in being on the School Committee at this point because I have been regularly attending meetings and observing the process here in Granby,” said Pelletier. “My daughter is in the Granby Public Schools and after observing and watching what’s going on seeing my daughter take part personally in the schools. Given my background in public education I feel that it offers a good mix of experiences in order to apply that to this situation, be a part of that committee and working together for the betterment of all students within the Granby Public Schools.”

Although there was no decision made, Director of Senior Services Chloe Canter will be working with the Board of Health in identifying the town’s elderly population needing vaccinations. The Selectboard will look for any additional information at their next meeting.

The meeting proceeded with the board making another motion to join the Veterans District and approved the National Grid to install two poles and anchors on Easton Street.
