Monson announces June 14 election results

MONSON – The Annual Town Election results have been finalized after 991 of 6,212 registered voters in Monson – a 16 percent turnout – cast their ballots on June 14.

In a contested race for Select Board, John Morrell was the sole candidate to fill the three-year vacant seat. He received a total of 558 votes, across three precincts. Behind him, Anthony Allard received 242 votes and Robert Kaddy, 174 votes.

The second contested race was for two open seats on the School Committee. Jamie Murphy received the highest number of votes, with a total of 572. Colleen Flynn, incumbent, was re-elected with a total of 482 votes. Edward Maia, the third candidate vying for a seat, was not elected. He received a total of 304 votes.

Incumbent Peter Matrow, town moderator, ran unopposed and was elected for a three-year term.

Incumbent Russell Bressette Jr. also ran unopposed and was elected for a three-year term on the Board of Assessors.

Incumbent David Beaudoin, cemetery commissioner, was re-elected for a three-year term.

Madeline Goodrich, an incumbent of the Parks and Recreation Department, was re-elected for a three-year term.

Paul DeMaio, incumbent, was re-elected to the Water and Sewer Department. He will serve a three-year term.

Lastly, incumbent Shirley Bagg was re-elected to the Housing Authority and will serve a five-year term.
