Perron upsets incumbent, Pratt regains seat in Southwick election

SOUTHWICK – On May 10, 1,191 voters in Southwick made their choice in several town elections, including two that were contested.

The Select Board got a new face this year as unenrolled newcomer Jason Perron won a three-year seat over incumbent Republican Joseph Deedy, with a vote of 627-544.

In a three-way election for two Community Preservation Committee seats, former appointed committee member and Democrat Chris Pratt and incumbent Beth Thomas won the seats with 670 and 567 votes respectively. The third candidate, John Cote, received 518 votes. Both Cote and Thomas were Republican nominees.

Republican School Committee members Jonathan Schantz and Patrick Jubb received 657 and 729 votes, respectively, in an uncontested race for two seats on the committee.

Dean Horacek was re-elected to the Board of Assessors in an uncontested race with 849 votes.

Republican Cemetery Commission member Norman Boucher was re-elected in an uncontested race with 862 votes.

Constables Kerri Magni and William Terry Jr., both Republicans, were re-elected to their positions in an uncontested race with 865 and 649 votes, respectively.

Patricia Odiorne, a Republican, was elected to the Dickinson School Trustees with 851 votes.

Jessica Boldyga, a Republican, was elected to the Board of Health in an uncontested race with 852 votes. Former board member Jean Nilsson chose not to run for re-election this year.

Republican David Deidolori was elected to the Parks and Recreation Commission on a write-in campaign, with 66 votes. There were 116 other unspecified write-in votes. No candidates had been nominated for this race.

David Spina, a Republican, was re-elected to a five-year term on the Planning Board in an uncontested race with 815 votes.

In a race for two open seats as library trustees, Democrat Tammy Ciak-Bissaillon and unenrolled candidate Cynthia Walker were elected in an uncontested election with 661 and 679 votes, respectively.
