SPRINGFIELD - Ray Berry, Jr., the founder of White Lion Brewing is seen holding the company’s two new beers, “Black is Beautiful” and “Fight the Sour” at the company’s first curbside beer sale at the location of its brewery under construction at Tower Square.

“Black is Beautiful” is described as an “imperial stout,” and is a collaboration between White Lion Brewing Company of Springfield and Trillium Brewing Company of Boston. Proceeds from Black is Beautiful will benefit the Healing Racism Institute of Pioneer Valley.

According to a statement from White Lion, “The launch of ‘Black is Beautiful’ seeks to raise awareness of the social injustices facing people of color and to demonstrate that the craft brewing community and its patrons support the need for greater diversity and inclusivity.”

More than 1,000 breweries across the globe, each utilizing the same recipe and common brand to establish a global, unified voice, are brewing “Black is Beautiful.” Trillium has pledged its proceeds to Lawyers for Civil Rights, Boston.

“Black is Beautiful” is for sale at Trillium’s taprooms and White Lion retail outlet.
