A shower couldn’t prevent the official opening of the Downtown Farmers Market at Tower Square Park on July 7. Mayor Domenic Sarno and Michael Mathis, president of MGM Springfield, look on as Michelle Grout of Springfield Business Improvement District explained the market will be open every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. now through Oct. 27.

Aside from local farmers offering fresh and local vegetables and fruits, the vendors also includes Oven Hot Cookies, Velma’s Kettle Corn, Springfield Macarons, Murphy’s Mobile Food truck and Nosh Bread.
