MGM Springfield has thousands of jobs open

SPRINGFIELD – Looking for a job? MGM has posted this week 75 new jobs this week, meaning more than 1,000 positions.
    The additional posting brings the number of available positions to 2,400, according to a press release from the company.
    Among the new jobs are: part-time security officer; steakhouse server; apprentice bartender; assistant executive steward; baker; banquet server; banquet supervisor; bartender; bar porter; bus person; casino bar cocktail server; cocktail server; convention banquet sous chef; convention service house person; cook casual dining; cook fine dining; esthetician; food and beverage cashier; part-time front desk room coordinator, hair stylist, inventory control clerk; staff of the casino’s Italian restaurant including, an assistant manager a sommelier, executive sous chef, servers; lead warehouse attendant; manicurist; massage therapist, full and part-time; spa attendant, full and part-time; counter help for the casino’s Starbucks location, staffing for the casino’s sports bar Taps; and more.
    Each job has a detailed description and people can apply on-line at www.mgmspringfield.com/career. Starting wages were not part of the job descriptions and many of the jobs require prior experience.
    When the casino finishes its hiring process it will have a staff of 3,000 people, making it one of the largest employers in Western Massachusetts. To put MGM’s staff into perspective Big Y World Class Markets employs 5,600 people, while Sisters of Providence Health Systems has 3,367 employees, according to 2016 statistics.
    Applicants should understand that all potential employees would undergo “some level of background check,” however rulings from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) have made it possible for people with “past indiscretions” to apply.
    Many of the positions require licensing from the MGC, with which MGM will assist candidates when they are hired
