CHESTER – The Jacob’s Ladder Business Association will host a “live and in person” Snack and Schmooze at the Chester Railway Station on Oct. 23 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Jacob’s Ladder Business Association has been helping businesses succeed in the Hilltowns since 1992. Their mission is to provide opportunities for increased prosperity for existing businesses, as well as development and support for new and emerging businesses through education, networking, events, and marketing, throughout the Western Massachusetts Hilltown region.

“The JLBA gives businesses the opportunity to work with business owners who have been in the hilltowns for a longer period of time.  It offers camaraderie and a good resource for whatever business owners are dealing with.  For new businesses that are trying to figure out how to reach their clientele, the JLBA has a lot of resources and experience to offer,” said JLBA Membership Director Michele Kenney.

All JLBA members are listed for free on the Hilltown Destinations map, which reaches 20,000 households in the greater Hilltown region. Hilltown Destinations has been a great success especially during the time of COVID-19 restrictions, Kenney said, offering residents easy access to contact area businesses, and for businesses to reach their customers.  Partnering with Western Mass Hilltown Hikers for hiking trails has also been an invaluable resource for residents of this region that have taken to exploring the outdoors. The 2020 Hilltown Destinations map is also available to view and download at www.jlba.org.

A JLBA Early Bird discount of $65 for 2021 membership is available until Oct. 23, after which the cost will increase to $75 after Oct. 23. To become a member, sign up online at www.jlba.org/become-a-member. Any business that serves the Hilltown region may become a JLBA member.

The Snack and Schmooze event, which will be catered by Chef John Slattery, will be limited to the first 25 people that sign up at www.jlba.org/2020-snack-and-schmooze.  There is no cost to the event for JLBA members. Non-members or prospective members are asked to give a $10 donation at the door.

All attendees must sign a COVID waiver, and adhere to COVID policies while in attendance.
