LONGMEADOW – As Blueberry Hill Principal Marie Pratt finishes her tenure at the school; a new principal is joining Blueberry Hill students, Amy Bostian.  Bostian has served as Hampden’s Thornton W. Burgess Middle School (TWB) Principal in recent years.

Bostian has big shoes to fill.  Pratt became a teacher at Blueberry Hill in 1991 and quickly was nominated and a finalist for Massachusetts Teacher of the Year in 1996.  In 2003, Pratt became the Principal of Blueberry Hill, and eventually achieved Massachusetts Principal of the Year from the Massachusetts Elementary School Principals’ Association (MESPA).

Longmeadow Superintendent Marty O’Shea said of the soon-to-be retired principal, “In my view, to have that level of success as a class teacher and administrator is distinctive.  She’s an outstanding educator of an elite class.”

In the process of selecting Bostian as Blueberry Hill’s new principal, there were a series of screening committees, opportunities for the candidate to meet with administration teams, parents, staff and a team was sent to visit her at TWB.

“She has extensive experience as a classroom teacher and special educator at the elementary school level,” O’Shea added, “She’s a passionate and committed educator.”

Bostian has accepted the principal position with a salary of $95,500 per year and will be joining the Longmeadow team on July 1.
