LONGMEADOW – Coming up on June 15 is the 4th Annual Almost Mile Family Fun Run and 5K fundraising effort to benefit Longmeadow’s Storrs Library and the Philip Michael Lauro II Discovery Room.

Fleet Feet Sports Longmeadow has teamed up with the MOMS Club of Longmeadow to organize the event. The Almost Mile race will be followed by a family-oriented festival with the Storrs Library Book Bike, the Longmeadow Fire Department, Longmeadow Montessori, International Kidchen Capable and The Dad Club of Longmeadow.           

 Additionally, there will be a raffle at the festival. The 5K will start at 9 a.m., and prizes will be awarded to the top three male and top three female adults. All children running will receive a prize.

“This year we have a great group of moms organizing and two amazing platinum level sponsors, our highest level, St. Germain Investments in Springfield and Baystate Urgent Care in Longmeadow,” explained MOMS Club member and organizer Alison Farkas. Last years event raised nearly $5,000 for the library. They hope to reach more families at this year’s event, and in turn raise more money for the library.

The cost to participate in the run is $20 for adults, and $10 for children. There is also a family rate for up to six participants of $45. Individuals who register by June 2 will be guaranteed a t-shirt.
