SPRINGFIELD – Carando and Big Y Foods teamed up to donate $10,000 in Carando spiral cut hams to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. The donation was announced at the Big Y on St. James Avenue in Springfield on March 18.

Andrew Morehouse, executive director of The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts praised the donation and noted to Reminder Publications Big Y has been very supportive of the Food Bank’s efforts.

The donation was part of the Carando Cares program, which was started in 2013 to make charitable contributions. Since the program begun the company has given $250,000 in monetary and in-kind donations.

Morehouse said at this time Food Bank staff was determining the best way to distribute the 504 hams.
