New Murals

SPRINGFIELD – The city of Springfield has more murals thanks to this year’s  Fresh Paint effort, a continuation of the program started in 2019.

The murals include depictions of historic figures from the city’s past such as Howard Drew, once considered the world’s fastest human.

The murals include:  the restoration of the mural at Mosque 13, Heritage by Don and Paul Blanton, to be led by muralist Kay Douglas; Mason Square Library, by Betsy Casanas; 1106 State St., by Ryan Murray; 827 State St. on the corner of Eastern Avenue and Wilbraham Road, by WMass Portrait Artists; and the Martin Luther King Jr. Family Services building, 3 Rutland St. by Nero and SoulsNYC.

The downtown mural locations are: La Fiorentina at 883 Main St., to be led by muralist ARCY; 595 Main St., by Wane One; corner of Dwight Street and Harrison Avenue, by Eric Okdeh; 232 Worthington St. above the existing BLM mural, by Jeff Henriquez; and the Worthington Street side of Taylor Street Parking Garage, by Stash.
