PALMER – Sure, you can get a bacon, lettuce and tomato (BLT) sandwich just about anywhere, but if you are looking for the best one, Angel’s 1376 Restaurant in Palmer, is the place to go.

Following Reminder Publishing’s recent expansion to Palmer, I have heard remarkable reviews about Angel’s Restaurant from residents and business owners in town. To find out for myself what all the talk is about, I took to their website to see what their menu consists of.

With a variety of sandwiches to choose from, one in particular caught my eye – my all-time favorite – a classic BLT.

Described on the menu as, “Crispy strips of our thick cut Applewood smoked bacon, beefsteak tomato slices, hearty green leaf and mayo piled high on your choice of toasted bread,” the summary was exactly what I received.

You might be wondering, ‘How can someone mess up a BLT?’ In my opinion, it’s easy. The bacon either makes or breaks the overall sandwich. In this case, the savory bacon was cooked to perfection. Surrounded by equal layers of lettuce and tomato, the three key ingredients were well balanced throughout.

The wheat bread holding the sandwich together was lightly toasted, making for the perfect crunch. Hints of mayonnaise were layered within, which also balanced well between the meat and vegetables.

From the first bite to last, the BLT was crowded with flavor. The fresh ingredients used to create this lunch left me feeling pleasantly full, but not stuffed – all for a reasonable price.

Forget those average BLT’s. If you want an authentic, delicious BLT that will leave you wanting more, visit Angel’s, at 1376 Main St. in Palmer.
