SPRINGFIELD – The city of Springfield may only be the third largest city in the state, but it is a leader in world-class entertainment.

This will be proven once again as local non-profit, City Mosaic, brings world-renowned Double Edge Theatre to the area for an incredibly unique performance.

On Sept. 23 and 24, Springfield’s most well-known park, Forest Park, will become home to an exquisite performance by Double Edge Theatre hailed “The Springfield Spectacle”. Double Edge Theatre was founded in 1982 in Boston by Artistic Director Stacy Klein with the goal of creating a ‘living culture’ by developing the highest quality of original theatre performances.

The theatre now calls Ashfield home and has a permanent center of performance, training, research, and cultural exchange.

“The Springfield Spectacle” is being presented by City Mosaic, an organization aiming to increase visual arts in the city of Springfield. This performance is not just a play or a show; but rather an interactive experience where the audience moves with the actors throughout the park as the story unfolds. This unique experience is one people will be discussing and tweeting well after.

“The goal for this amazing initiative is to encourage a connection among the residents of the City of Springfield; as well as those in the surrounding communities, while exposing all generations to the visual arts and inspiring continued support of culture in the City,” shares Morgan Drewniany, City Mosaic board member and Director of the Springfield Cultural District.

The evening is free for all to attend thanks to the generous support of Premiere Sponsor Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), as well as The Davis Foundation, C & S Wholesale Grocers, NAI Plotkin, The Springfield Central Cultural District, Tower Square, Metro Care of Springfield, and Inspired Marketing.

Additional support for this event has been provided by the City of Springfield and the Expeditions Program of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support from the six New England state arts agencies.

In addition to the final performances occurring in Forest Park there will be rehearsals happening in Downtown Springfield at Court Square in the week leading up to the presentation.
