WESTFIELD – Gaslight Entertainment is heating up the city this winter.

Business partners and friends Jay Pagliuca and Patrick Berry started talking about bringing national music acts to Westfield five years ago. The two music lovers fantasized about finding a space that would be intimate enough to feel special, but large enough to draw a crowd of several hundred.

After years of dreaming, the city residents are bringing their vision to fruition as Gaslight Entertainment’s Westfield Concert Series at the Westfield Woman’s Club.

In addition to bringing more music to the city,  particularly in the late fall through early spring before Westfield on Weekends’ summer concert series, MusicFest, begins, Pagliuca and Berry wanted to bring people downtown.

“It was important for us to find a venue downtown,” said Berry. “We’re huge proponents of the city and bringing people to other downtown businesses. ArtsWorks and WOW do this, and this is the next step.”

The Westfield Woman’s Club is undergoing renovations, including installation of an elevator, which made it the perfect space for the concert series.

Pagliuca has a background in theater and radio and was a past WOW board member who works with the Woman’s Club.

“My work with WOW really gave me a taste of what we could do here,” he said.

Berry said there was a void of winter events that they can fill.

“At the end of the summer season, it’s like the streets are rolled up until spring,” he said. “We all hear people say ‘Westfield should do this or Westfield should do that’ and we had this idea and we’re doing it.”

Gaslight Entertainment kicks-off the concert series Nov. 8 with The Carole King Tribute: Home Again at 7 p.m. Much of the lineup this season includes tribute performers that Berry and Pagliuca say listeners will swear are the real deal.

“We’ll have something for everyone,” said Pagluica, “Rock, Pop, Blues, Ska, Country, Celtic, Jazz, Soul... from original artists and top-notch tribute bands.”

The Tavern Restaurant will sell beer and wine during the concerts and snacks will also be available to purchase.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now and may be purchased online at www.westfieldconcerts.com or by calling 579-8540. The Westfield Woman’s Club, 28 Court St., was built 100 years ago and offers seating for up to 300 people.
