Maestro Kevin Rhodes to act as celebrity bartender Nov. 4

Oct. 30, 2015 |

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield Symphony Orchestra (SSO) Music Director Kevin Rhodes will be at the SSO’s second annual Celebrity Bartending Fundraiser at the Student Prince & Fort Café in downtown Springfield Nov. 4.

All tips and a portion of your purchases will benefit the SSO’s music and educational initiatives.

Rhodes will be joined by other well-known public figures from the region, including Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno, Western Mass News anchor Dave Madsen, Chris Kellogg, WMAS-FM Kellogg Krew DJ, Bruce Landon, Springfield Falcons operations manager, Springfield City Councilor Bud Williams, and State Sen. Eric Lesser.

From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., a total of 12 celebrity bartenders will step behind the famed Student Prince bar in teams of three, to serve up beer and wine to Symphony supporters, friends and fans.

There will be a little friendly competition between each celebrity team, so come cheer on your favorites.

And this year, there will be free raffle prizes (including pairs of tickets to upcoming SSO concerts) given away all evening.

The Springfield Symphony Orchestra was the first organization to bring celebrity bartending to Springfield last winter. After the success of that event, this year promises to be a well-attended evening of socializing and support for the SSO.

“Thanks to the Student Prince, our gracious celebrities and generous attendees, we raised several thousand dollars to benefit the symphony’s educational programs last season – including our two Youth Orchestras, Musical Petting Zoo, ‘Education Connection’ youth concerts and more” Marketing Director Ann Rasmussen said. “Not only is this a lively “spirited” evening, but it also gives our supporters the chance to meet Maestro Rhodes and other members of the symphony family in a fun, casual setting.

There is no admission fee, and the Student Prince offers free valet parking.
