NBA giving fans a chance to relive history through #NBATogetherLive series

With the current NBA season at a standstill as a result of the ongoing global pandemic, the league is engaging its fans with live rebroadcasts of classic games on both its YouTube channel and Twitter page.

Like the NFL, the NBA is doing an excellent job of supplying a steady supply of classic games on YouTube as the sports world desperately waits for the season to resume. Nearly every day the NBA is doing a live rebroadcast of a classic game on both YouTube and Twitter, during which fans have an opportunity to interact with each other during a time without basketball. In the finale of the three part series, we are taking a look at some of the best games currently available on the NBA’s YouTube channel.

Curry’s breakout game at Madison Square Garden, Feb. 27, 2013

Back in 2013 the Golden State Warriors and Steph Curry were not the household names they are now, and the New York Knicks were not the dumpster fire they currently are. This mid-season matchup proved to be an exciting back and forth affair with Curry completely stealing the show.

Curry finished the game with 54 points including scoring 15 points in a row in the second quarter to give the Warriors their first lead of the game. On the national TV stage, this was the first time the world was introduced to Curry’s otherworldly shooting ability, finishing with 11 three pointers. In the end the Warriors lost 109 to 105 but the game proved to be the day Curry became a household name.

Ray Allen forces Game 7 with clutch 3 pointer, Game 6 2013 NBA Finals

Celtics fans might want to avert their eyes for this one. After leaving the team in 2012, Ray Allen joined up with the team’s biggest rival at the time, the Miami Heat led by Lebron James, and made a series altering impact in Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs that year.

During the game, the teams went back and forth until there was just five seconds left to play in regulation with the Heat down 95-92. After James missed a potential game tying three pointer, Chris Bosh grabbed a rebound and kicked it to Allen in the corner to hit the most clutch three points of his career to send the game to overtime. With their season on the line the Heat went on to win 103-100 and force Game 7 before winning their second consecutive title.

Kobe scores 33 in the 4th Quarter, March 16, 2007

It would not be a list of the best games you can watch without the late, great Kobe Bryant. In this late season matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers from 2007, Kobe showed the Mamba Mentality he was known for, dropping 33 points in the fourth quarter alone to force overtime.

Kobe did not stop there – he scored nine more points in the extra frame to bring his game total to 65 – the second most he had scored in a single game at that point in his career. Because of his efforts, the Lakers pulled off a 118 to 111 victory.

These three games are just a sample of some of the greatest moments from NBA history available on YouTube. Some others include Allen Iverson’s career high 60 point game from 2005, Shaquille O’Neal’s 61 points on his birthday in 2000, and Michael Jordan’s 55 points in just his fifth game back after a brief two year retirement.
