CHICOPEE – Comedian Pablo Francisco is indeed a road warrior. The veteran comic told Reminder Publications that touring “doesn’t get tiring at all.”

Francisco will be reappearing at the Hu Ke Lau on Feb. 18.

His “driving to work” is flying first class to a city, he said. Francisco added if you schedule yourself correctly you could go home on the weekends.

That time on the road, he added laughing, can keep a relationship back home “spicy.”

Francisco started his comedy career at 16 and started hitting the professional ranks at 19. He’s been making people laugh almost 25 years.

“The time has gone by so quickly,” he said. “It’s been so much fun.”

The career has taken him around the world with tours to Europe, Africa and Australia. He has had specials on Comedy Central and has made the rounds on a number television shows such as “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” Comedy Central's “The Show Biz Show w/ David Spade,” “Mind of Mencia” and was on the spring finale of VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz.” He has also been a cast member on Fox Network’s sketch comedy show “Mad TV,” TBS's “Frank TV,” has appeared on Howard Stern's radio show.

As much as he enjoys stand-up, Francisco has been involved in a number of development deals for television programs. While several pilots have been stalled, Francisco is looking now at new projects on other networks.

“Here we go again, “ he said with a laugh.

Francisco peppers his acts with both sound effects and impersonations. He has developed those abilities since childhood.

“All my life I’ve been making fun of people,” he said, recalling how he would perform a “boing” sound every time one of his teachers widened her large eyes.

In his performances he is “trying to put [sound effects] in there without calling attention to them.” He wants them to “naturally come in” and act as punctuation for what he is saying.

When asked how he writes his material, he said the process starts in his kitchen with his writing partner coming up with ideas that come to him. He goes from one topic to another. “It’s like ADD [Attention Deficit Disorder], only positive ADD,” he said.

Then he tries out the jokes on friends gathered in his living room. He repeats bits while he showers – “like how someone sings in the shower,” he explained.

Francisco added, “You know when it’s feeling right.”

He is clearly doing something correctly as more than 100 million YouTube viewers around the world have seen his work online. He has more than 154,000 Facebook fans and thousands of Twitter followers.

Francisco said he has benefited by good advice and said his philosophy has been “if you see someone do something, ask them how they do it.”
