Storrowton set to host Yuletide by Lantern Light Dec. 9

WEST SPRINGFIELD – The excitement and charm of the holiday season comes to life at Storrowton Village Museum’s Yuletide by Lantern Light, Dec. 9, 6 to 8 p.m., on the grounds of Eastern States Exposition.

Lantern and candlelight will illuminate the historic Village, welcoming guests to tour the buildings and watch live 19th century demonstrations of fireplace cooking in the Gilbert Farmstead and blacksmithing in the stone Blacksmith Shop.

Storrowton will be adorned with festive décor by several area garden clubs, florists and designers who have donated their time, expertise and materials to create a winter wonderland.

Participating clubs and florists include: Agawam Garden Club, Gilbert Farmstead Sitting Room; Anthony Gladu of Rose Petal and Thorn, of West Springfield, Gilbert Farmstead Entry and Parlor; Bloomin’ Bunch, located in Springfield, Gilbert Farmstead Kitchen; Deena Rollet of Merry Mite Gardens, of Suffield, Conn., Eddy Law Office; East Longmeadow Garden Club, Potter Mansion Dining Room; Entry and Parlor; Garden Club of the Westfield Woman’s Club, Potter Mansion; Springfield Garden Club, Blacksmith Shop; West Springfield Garden Club, Whately North Center Schoolhouse; Wilbraham Garden Club, Meetinghouse; Eastern States Exposition Landscape Department, Village Gazebo and exterior wreaths; Area decorator Pat Byrne, of South Hadley, will create Della Robia Fruit Boards for the Potter Mansion doorways.

During Yuletide’s Lantern Light Tours, visit the Village’s shops to find perfect holiday presents. The Christmas Shop in Potter Mansion features holiday gifts, decorations and ornaments.

The Storrowton Village Gift Shop, in the Phillips House, has an array of gifts for guests to shop from jewelry and fashion accessories to unique gifts and collectibles.

The Gift Shop is additionally open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 19.

Yuletide Open House Tours are offered Dec. 8 to 12, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission for Lantern Light Tours and Open House Tours is $5; children under 6 are free. Parking for all Storrowton events is free.
