Pope Francis Preparatory School celebrates graduation

SPRINGFIELD – On June 6, Pope Francis Preparatory School hosted the first on-campus graduation since moving to its new facilities on Wendover Road in Springfield. Head of School Dr. Paul Harrington, second row, left, welcomed guests of the 91 members of the class of 2019 to the proceedings, and Chair of the Pope Francis Board of Directors Michele D’Amour, right, gave the opening remarks for a ceremony that was presided over by Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski. Bottom row, from left: As a part of the celebration, Pope Francis 2019 Poet Laureate Nylan Xavier Baldwin read his moving poem, “A Light in the Dark,” and both Valedictorian Rachel Shannon and Salutatorian Seth Mastroianni shared poignant remarks tinged with humor and memories. The graduates celebrated their success with the traditional hat toss following the ceremony.
