AGAWAM – During the Agawam Planning Board meeting on July 1, members unanimously approved the proposed car wash to be built at the corner of Shoemaker Lane and South Westfield Street.

Currently, this parcel is vacant.

The owner of the property is BGM, Inc. The applicant who made the proposal was Noble Energy – a company that operates multiple gas stations, convenience stores and car wash locations in both Massachusetts and Connecticut.

According to Marc Strange, director of planning and community development, the car wash went through their “normal, established permitting process.”

Strange said, “The proposed location has been vacant for quite some time, so the town would receive previously unrealized tax revenue once the facility gets built.”

He went on to say, “But we also expect Noble Energy to build, offer, and maintain a quality business that residents in Feeding Hills and all of Agawam can use.”

As of now, it is unknown when the car wash will be constructed. There will be no cost to the town.
