AGAWAM – The Agawam Public Library showcased 11 local authors at the READLocal Author Event on June 24 to kick off their summer reading program and A Universe of Stories, a nationwide program from the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP). The CSLP is a coalition in which states provide high-quality summer reading materials for adults, teens, and children to their public libraries at a low cost. The adult summer reading program at the Agawam Public Library utilizes bingo cards to earn prizes. When someone reads a book, they can check off a square. Each checked off square will be verified at the Reference or Information desks and is redeemable for a scratch ticket to win a small prize. The scratch tickets will be entered into a weekly raffle for a $25 gift cards to various local businesses. A verified completed bingo, five squares in a row, is worth a raffle ticket to the grand prize, a $100 VISA gift card. There will be two bingo cards so readers can complete up to 10 bingos. The program runs from June 24 to August 9.
