AGAWAM – Berkshire Bank recently announced that the last day of operations for its Feeding Hills branch will officially be Jan. 29, 2021.

In a letter sent out to the bank’s customers, Brian Sullivan, senior vice president of retail banking, said that Berkshire has decided to consolidate the branch in Feeding Hills into their Agawam bank at 820 Suffield St.

Due to a busy schedule, the bank’s account supervisor and media relations could not be reached for comment on the situation. Sullivan though, was able to provide a statement to Reminder Publishing. Within this statement, Sullivan specified how the bank is trying to make this transition as easy as possible for customers who have to move their accounts.

“The bank is proactively communicating this decision to customers who could be impacted, and is making introductions to team members at the Agawam branch and our MyBanker team to ensure a seamless transition,” said Sullivan.

As for the employees at the Feeding Hills branch, Sullivan said that they are working closely with team members to review possible career opportunities within the bank. Part of this process involves a smooth transition into another position.

“We have a strong track record of retaining team members who have previously been impacted by a consolidation,” said Sullivan.

Aside from these banks, there are also branches in West Springfield, Westfield and Southwick. Residents can find the full list of locations and hours on Berkshire’s official website.

Also included in the letter was information on how to find additional banking options to suit customers’ busy life. To learn more about these flexible banking options, the letter encourages customers to visit berkshirebank.com/flex.

“Our flexible banking options, such as MyBanker, MyTeller and our new frictionless digital account opening experience, are available to better serve our customers and meet their evolving preferences,” said Sullivan.

This is not the first time Berkshire Bank has consolidated branches. In August 2019, a letter was sent out to customers of the Chicopee branch to notify them of their bank’s consolidation with South Hadley. That went into effect in mid-December of that year.

Location was among the reasons indicated for the consolidation. The recent letter that was sent to Feeding Hill members specified that the Agawam and Feeding Hills branch are only four miles apart from each other. The Chicopee and South Hadley banks were only two miles apart prior to consolidating.
