FEEDING HILLS – The 1980s are back in style on May 31 when the Agawam Little League will host its Rock the 80s Pavilion Party. The party, sponsored by JJ’s Soft Serve and More and the Vietnam Veterans of Massachusetts, is a fundraiser to support the Agawam Little League. All proceeds will benefit the league.

The event will feature live music, a cash bar and dinner. Local tribute band STREETS will perform 80s hair metal including songs from AC/DC, Motley Crue, Poison, Kiss, Ratt, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Cinderella, Journey and Quiet Riot.

Michael Natale, event coordinator for the Rock the 80’s Pavilion Party, said that the party is important to him. “Personally, I have three boys in the league and who also play other sports, so I know how much it can cost a family to keep their kids playing sports,” Natale said.

With the growing participation in the league, Natale said it’s important that the community comes together to support Agawam Little League. “Each year Agawam has over 600 boys and girls who participate in the league and in order for the Agawam Little League program to be successful and affordable for the families in the community, we rely on fundraisers like the Rock the 80s Pavilion Party as a means to keep those costs down for the families,” Natale shared.

Natale continued, “Player registration costs only account for a portion of these league expenses, so we need a lot of help from events like this.”

While this is the first Rock the 80s event that the Agawam Little League has hosted, Natale said it is sure to be a good time. “We love doing fun fundraisers like this that give us the chance to raise money for the kids and at the same time have some fun. By attending, not only are you going to have a blast and listen to some great music and [have] a great dinner, but you’ll be supporting local youth baseball and softball, so it’s a win/win,” Natale shared.

All proceeds will help ensure that Agawam Little League participants have all of the supplies that they need to play the game, according to Natale. “These fundraisers have a tremendous impact on a child’s experience in the Agawam Little League and the proceeds raised are used to help maintain affordable registration fees for all players and families, purchase quality equipment for the optimal safety and experience of our players, support the operational costs of our league such as insurance, umpire training and services, coaches training, uniforms and so much more,” Natale said.

Natale said he recommends that the town come out to the party. “This is the first time we are doing this event, so we are playing all those great hair rock hits from the 80’s and I guarantee everybody who comes will love [it.] Where else can you get a great meal, listen to a great band, and have some fun for only $20?,” Natale said.

The Rock the 80’s Pavilion Party will take place at the Agawam Polish American Club, located at 139 Southwick St. in Feeding Hills. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and STREETS will perform at 8 p.m.
