AGAWAM – Everyone knows that drinking and driving is both illegal and dangerous. Still many New Year’s Eve revelers face a dilemma of what to do with their vehicle if they use a taxi or ride-sharing service to get home safely. An Agawam towing business gave residents a solution this year.

His & Hers Towing offered a free tow from any bar in West Springfield or Agawam on the night of New Year’s Eve.

“We’re encouraging people to not drink and drive,” said Karyn Luginbuhl, co–owner of His & Hers Towing, which began operating in July 2019. The Agawam-based service was available to transport the vehicle and the owners, as long as there was room in the tow truck, said Luginbuhl.

“We’ve lost quite a few people to drunk driving,” Luginbuhl told Reminder Publishing just before the holiday. “I’d rather spend New Year’s Eve towing than have people attend a funeral later.”

The free towing offer was good for the night of Dec. 31 providing that both the bar and the destination were within West Side or Agawam city limits. Based on how successful this year’s offer was, the business may make it a yearly tradition, Luginbuhl said.
