AGAWAM – Jenny Weber, an Agawam resident and NOHO Nutrition business owner, received a phone call on June 6 that her house was on fire. This was the second fire her family had experienced within the last year and a half.

Prior to opening NOHO Nutrition in May 2020, Weber worked at Nutrition First in Agawam. After hearing of the tragic news, Nutrition First owner Michelle Fairman decided to create a GoFundMe page in an effort to help her friend.

Fairman told Reminder Publishing that in July 2019, the Weber family home caught fire in their kitchen. At the time, they had to gut the entire floor.

A few months after the first fire, Weber started NOHO Nutrition, which Fairman said brought a lot of stress upon Weber. By the time the doors opened, the pandemic shortly followed. Luckily, NOHO Nutrition was able to remain open by offering curbside pick-up. In May 2021, Weber was finally able to welcome customers inside.

On June 6, Weber, and her family were away, camping. While they were gone, another fire began, but this time, in their basement.

Fairman said, “Their dogs were home – the neighbor broke the window and went in to save the dogs.”

Both of the dogs suffered injuries, including smoke inhalation, and were in critical condition. As of now, Fairman said, “they’re doing okay,” and is “thankful they’re alive.”

The Weber home is currently unlivable. The cause of the fire is being investigated and is unknown at the time of press.

“They lost everything,” Fairman said.

To assist the Webers, Fairman set up the GoFundMe with a goal to raise $10,000. As of now, the link has raised about $1,900.

Weber took to Facebook live to inform her customers of the situation and why she remained closed for a few days. Fairman claimed, “Everyone has been really supportive.”

She said, “Jenny has the biggest heart. She’s always give, give, give … she’d give you the shirt off her back.”

Fairman went on to say, “I don’t want her to stress about money. She owns a business, in the middle of a pandemic – I don’t want her to stress any more.”

Fairman hopes that aside from making donations on the GoFundMe page, people will donate items such as clothes, furniture, and restaurant gift cards.

In addition, Nutrition First is donating their cash tips all week to go towards the Weber family.

For anyone wishing to donate items, drop-off locations are Nutrition First, 333 Walnut St. Ext. Agawam, or NOHO Nutrition, Maplewood Shops, 2 Conz St., Ste 46, Northampton.
