AGAWAM – Employees the Heritage Hall Senior Living facility, located at 462 Main St., were honored by Mayor William Sapelli and facility management on the morning of June 17.

The 10 a.m. presentation began with a moment of silence to remember those at the facility who had lost their lives to the coronavirus. During the socially distanced presentation, staff members were given three items including a rose plant, a certification of appreciation and a puzzle piece so that they always remember what they were a part of.

Sapelli said Agawam, which has a total of eight assisted living facilities in town, had been hit hard by the virus. He went on to say he had bragged to other mayors in the Commonwealth about how well the staff at Heritage Hall and the other facilities in town had managed the care of patients throughout the pandemic.

“You are really unsung heroes, and were overlooked in the beginning. As mayor, I’m very proud of the job you did,” he said to staff. In total, 90 employees in the facility were recognized for their hard work.
