FEEDING HILLS – The fluorescent neon pink signs stuck in the ground lining towns such as Agawam, East Windsor and Enfield have led several residents to believe that It’s Mattress Time, a mattress retailer in Feeding Hills, is going out of business. However, at closer inspection of the lawn signs, they read “Store Closing: for restructuring.” While the store is closing, they are not closing forever. On the contrary, owner Jessica Iarivee says business is booming.

“We opened about a year ago and have been doing well. We did really well so I decided to expand,” she said. “We are going to renovate, add to inventory and add to services. We are expanding.”

During a phone call with Reminder Publishing, Iarivee was with happy customers laughing in the background and she was excited to help them find the right mattress. There were no signs of a closing business.

It’s Mattress Time is planning to expand their current single floor location into the upstairs of the building. The family owned small business has a five-year lease on the present location.

“We started in one room and have been growing and growing. We are going to expand upstairs and take over the whole building,” Iarivee told Reminder Publishing.

Since the business’ inception, Iarivee has offered only mattresses and box springs. With the expansion, she hopes to bring items such as gel memory foam beds, heated blankets, pillows, blankets, sheets and adjustable bases to the inventory. Iarivee is also hoping to incorporate an online form for customers to utilize for drop shipping.

It’s Mattress Time plans to continue offering successful services such as financing and delivery.

Iarivee is excited about the big changes and looks forward to helping people for years to come.

“I’m happy about the restructuring. I’m a single mom of three. I started this to support my family. I try to be honest with people and help people,” she related. “I am focused on the community and trying to give people high quality beds and great customer service.”

The biggest misconception triggered by the sea of signs advertising It’s Mattress Time’s big restructuring sale is that this is a going out of business sale. Iarivee can’t stress enough that the sales are the result of good business and not bad.

“We are doing good business. We aren’t going out of business. We are going to close, but there’s a big difference. We are looking forward to this. I call this a blessing. It’s been great among hard times in my life. I’m thankful for my customers, they are my heart,” Iarivee said.

While she shared that a closing date is not yet set in stone, Iarivee is planning for It’s Mattress Time to temporarily close around February 2019 in order to complete the renovations.

It’s important for Iarivee to stay open at the Feeding Hills location. “I love Agawam. The community has been awesome. I live in Suffield, but I spend most of my time in Agawam.”

As for It’s Mattress Time, Iarivee has one message for those concerned that the small business is disappearing: “We aren’t going anywhere.”

It’s Mattress Time is open to the public for the length of their restructuring sale and is located at 680 Springfield St. in Feeding Hills.
