AGAWAM – Six Flags, perhaps better known as the “Thrill Capital of New England,” has lots in store for the new year.

On April 9, Six Flags New England, located at 1623 Main St., plans to welcome back park goers for the 2022 season.

“We look forward to sharing new park enhancements, culinary offerings and auditions as we get closer to our 2022 season,” said a representative for Six Flags New England.

“We offer a variety of ticket options with sensational benefits, exclusive offers and experiences,” they continued.

To keep the park up and running, they will be offering 3,000 seasonal positions. “We are looking for exceptional employees to help us provide our guests with world-class service and experiences. We also offer exceptional benefits to our employees including leadership opportunities, free tickets for friends and family, park discounts, exclusive events, scholarship opportunities and more.”

Interested candidates are asked to join Six Flags New England at their “Kickoff Hiring Weekend” – set to take place from Feb. 18 to 21 (Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., and Saturday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), at their Human Resources building located at 1756 Main Street. Applicants will have the opportunity to be offered a position and start earning money on the same day. To learn more and apply, visit https://www.sixflags.com/jobs.
While this is not all the excitement that folks can anticipate for the new season, Six Flags New England said, “Stay tuned with more details to come.”

Recent improvements to the park were also made when the pandemic struck, forcing them to close their doors for the season.

“Throughout 2020, our team took ample opportunity to provide park enhancements to better our guest and team member experience,” said the representative. Some enhancements included painting, rehabilitation, landscaping, and much more.

“Our team also worked on our newly themed DC Universe Area and our newest addition to the park, Supergirl Sky Flyer which both premiered in 2021,” they added.

During this time, no employees were let go. Six Flags New England said, “We continue to be very proud of maintaining our entire full-time workforce,” which is consistently made up of the 3,000 seasonal positions.

On May 14, 2021, Six Flags New England reopened with its “world-class attractions.” They said, “Guests were eager to visit the Thrill Capital of New England. We have been met with enthusiasm from our guests once we were able to open as a theme park.”

To bring people back upon their reopening, Six Flags allowed for season pass holders to carry over their 2020 passes into 2021.

Last year, a major problem in Agawam was the traffic generated from Six Flags. They said, “We continue to partner with local officials to mitigate traffic concerns and increase resources to support those efforts.”

More specifically, Mayor William Sapelli said they have added more police details, opened more parking lots, and even began using exits as entrances during the morning hours. This way, people can get off the streets and into the park faster and more efficiently, noted Sapelli. He went on to say that although some warm days attract more park goers than usual, typically, the traffic resolves quickly. “[We’re] going to have some back ups, but it’s not long,” Sapelli said.

He recognized Six Flags New England for being an excellent neighbor. “They’re making adjustments, they admit to [these] problems, and put their heads together with police,” etc., to ensure the park operates as smoothly as possible, Sapelli said.

In regard to any anticipated challenges for 2022, Six Flags New England said, “Our team is the best in the industry and [we] look forward to welcoming our guests back for the 2022 season as we provide friendly, clean, fast and safe service.”

Six Flags New England will continue to meet or exceed federal, state, and local guidelines in regard to proper COVID-19 health and safety measures.
