AGAWAM – On March 7, James Clark Elementary School hosted its Thirteenth Annual Science Fair. Students from kindergarten to fourth grade are encouraged to create science projects at home to be displayed during the fair.

From a custom video game controller to twisting tornadoes, students selected projects that piqued their interests in the subject of science.

Tammy Rumplik, STEAM teacher at James Clark Elementary School, explained “Each grade level has a certain project based on developmental appropriateness.”

Students from Agawam High School’s National Honor Society are invited to judge the fair and ask students questions about their projects. The fair is noncompetitive and all participants were recognized during a ceremony the evening of March 7.

“It ends up being a family activity. What a great way for family to get involved and help. It’s great for them to turn off the television and work together. They’ll have these memories later in life,” Rumplik said.

Rumplik continued, “This is where jobs are going to be in the future for them.”
