CHICOPEE – St. Stanislaus School will be hosting a Polish Plate Dinners-to-Go event with proceeds going directly towards the school.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, St. Stan’s has hosted many drive-thru events to help with costs in both the school and the parish. The upcoming event will have 600 tickets available for purchase to help curb resident’s Polish food cravings. The event will take place on April 24 from 3 to 6 p.m.

This is the second Polish food drive-thru event the school has hosted. The first took place in October and provided frozen Polish food to residents in their cars.

“We’ve been having several drive-thrus. We had a drive-thru just Polish frozen food too. We’ve been trying to do Polish food because people seem to want it and we’ve had lines going all the way down from the school to City Hall when we did have it,” said Cindy Conklin, business manager at St. Stan’s.

The Polish dinner plate will have two cabbage pierogi, two cheese & potato pierogi, one golumpki, a side of kapusta, five slices of kielbasa and rye bread. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased in person at either the school or the parish, or by going online to www.saintstansschool.org. The deadline to purchase tickets is April 16.

During the event, residents will also be able to purchase extra cabbage pierogi, cheese and potato pierogi, golumpki, kapusta, Domins white and beet horseradish, homemade chrust and homemade cookies from their car.

The parents of children attending St. Stan’s will be making the cookies and chrust and will be volunteering to help serve the food.

Raffle tickets will also be available to purchase beforehand or during the event. They will be $5 each and the winner will receive a basket with Polish items, $75 of Massachusetts lottery tickets and $25 cash.

The drive-thru event is taking the place of St. Stan’s usual bingo fundraiser because of the pandemic. Conklin said this event will help with balancing the school budget.

“We usually have bingo and bingo is a good fundraiser for our school and since COVID-19 we haven’t been able to have it. So we started doing these drive-thru events and we’ve been trying to have one a month or so to either benefit the church or the school,” she said.  “This time it’s going to help our school. We’ve been doing several events to help the parish.”

Those with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact Conklin at 592-7211.
