EAST?LONGMEADOW – At the Board of Library Trustees meeting last week the group conducted their first meeting under new organization.  With that, the board made new appointments before continuing on with the latest business regarding the library including the summer reading program as well as the discussion of a series of improvements that will be made to the building.

Charlie Gray, Jr. was appointed to the position of Board of Library Trustees Chair.  David Boucher will be serving as Vice Chairperson, and Diane Tiago was appointed to the Secretary position.

The East Longmeadow Library summer reading program kickoff was well attended, with 425 people enjoying pizza, live music, and creating operation gratitude care packages.

“People were very excited, it really garnered a lot of attention.  You could spread out and really enjoy the music, it was wonderful,” Layla Johnston, East Longmeadow Library’s Director said.

Conserve Thru Control, Inc.  was contracted by the town to improve the HVAC systems of the library.  With the hot summer months upon us, it can be a challenge to keep buildings that have open layouts cool.  There has been new consolidation of all of the HVAC functions of the library, which has led to an improvement of the cooling of the building.

Additionally, the partitions in the women’s bathroom on the first floor of the library are being replaced by the end of the summer.
