East Longmeadow annual town election results, 6.2 percent voter turnout

EAST LONGMEADOW – The Town of East Longmeadow hosted their annual town election on June 4, which featured two uncontested races for both the Town Council and School Committee.

Three individuals ran for three open seats on the Town Council: Kathleen Hill, Ralph Page and Patrick Henry – not including any write-ins. Ultimately, the three were elected by voters to the Council, with Hill receiving 489 votes, Henry receiving 422, and Page with 452. Write-in candidate John Harding received 227 write-in votes.

The three newly elected Council members told Reminder Publishing that they’re focused on important issues in town including taxes, expenses, the budget, and renovations to the High School.

Two candidates ran on the ballot for two open seats on the East Longmeadow School Committee: current School Committee member William Fonseca and resident Antonella Raschilla. Both of these individuals were elected to the positions, and will serve three-year terms on the Committee.  Fonseca received 461 votes, and Raschilla, 581.

In an interview with Reminder Publishing, both Fonseca and Raschilla agreed that there must be physical upgrades to the High School. Additionally, they highlighted their passion for education and the community.

There is a total of 11,874 registered voters in East Longmeadow, and a total of 737 votes cast at this election. This comes to a voter percentage of 6.2 percent.
