Former ELHS athletic director arraigned

EAST LONGMEADOW—The former athletic director for East Longmeadow High School has been arrested and charged with larceny.

According to  James Leydon, spokesman for the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, Dan Maurer was arraigned in Palmer District Court on Mar. 17 with the charges filed against him alleging that over $250 was stolen from student funds at East Longmeadow High School. According to laws in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, this means that Maurer will be charged with a felony.

Leydon told Reminder Publications Maurer allegedly acted alone and had no accomplices.

The Palmer District Court was unable to comment due to the case still being considered an ongoing investigation.

Citing policies that prohibit discussion regarding former staff at the East Longmeadow schools, East Longmeadow Superintendent of Schools Gordon Smith stated was unable to comment.
