EAST LONGMEADOW – In a little storefront on Shaker Road in East Longmeadow, a blender whirs behind the counter. The customers, who order drinks with names like Dr. Green, Berried Up To Here and Blue Dream, can be sure their beverages are fresh – very fresh.

That’s because the business, My Main Squeeze, offers an array of juices, smoothies, oat milk, vegan nut “mylk,” juice kits and cleanses that are made in-store daily.

My Main Squeeze is celebrating its fifth anniversary and owner Cassandra Cerasuolo said business is good.

“Every year we see steady growth,” said Cerasuolo, who graduated from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2012.

She said the business has developed a following with a lot of regular customers, and two main sources of business are word–of–mouth and social media.

“It was a hobby that took over my life,” Cerasuolo told Reminder Publishing of how she began the business. She said that she bought a juicer for personal use several years ago and learned about the benefits of juicing. From there, she saw an opportunity.

“There was a need. This area is health–conscious,” Cerasuolo said, and “there was nothing like this around.” The downside to that situation is that there was no model on which to base her fledgling business. While Cerasuolo said it was hard to navigate at first, she gives credit to the town’s health inspector and the town for being helpful and small business–friendly.

Customers can stop in at the store, or they can order online at mymainsqueeze.com or through the business’s app to pick up at the store.

Because the products are made in–house with no preservatives added, they only have a three–day shelf life. For that reason, My Main Squeeze is unable to ship their drinks or sell them in grocery stores. That hasn’t stopped the business from getting their products out to the public, though.

“We do a lot of farmer’s markets. We did the Big E, as well,” said Cerasuolo. My Main Squeeze also offers catering with custom smoothie bars for private events.

Cerasuolo developed the menu through “trial and error.” The three most popular smoothies are Funky Monkey, Protein Punch, and Glo Green, Cerasuolo said, though this time of year juices are more popular.

My Main Squeeze began selling “protein bites” about three years ago. The bites are shelf-stable and can be shipped. Also available at the store are products from Sunfoods, Fire Cider and  RawRev. The company Hu approached My Main Squeeze about carrying their vegan, gluten-free products. Cerasuolo said she chooses vendors to partner with who offer quality ingredients and healthy food options.

“While in season, we also try to purchase from local farms as much as possible,” said Cerasuolo.

My Main Squeeze now employees about 10 people, though some are seasonal help because they are in college.

Cerasuolo is looking toward the future for her business.

“I like to live on a loose plan. I’m open to a lot of possibilities,” Cerasuolo said. She is hoping to expand in the market and said she is thinking about eventually opening a second location.

Cerasuolo is always experimenting with new flavors, too.

“Variety is the goal,” Cerasuolo said. “There’s something for every taste bud.”

My Main Squeeze is located at 48 Shaker Rd. and open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and ??Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
